Wind Performance Forum: 2025 edition

What worked

• Operators spoke freely, with no commercial pressure in the room
• A small group, with a format giving room to breathe, listen and share rather than network
• Operations, engineering and data people in the same room, all exchanging
• Agenda set by the operators
• A clear rhythm, with a speaking stick and proper breaks, keeping it concrete

Presentations

Names and companies shared with consent.

With not yet enough operator presentations to fill the first day, two of Tipspeed's team, Samuel Davoust and François Delaunay, shared their own expertise: wind speed estimation and data analysis feedback. From the second edition on, presentations are by operators only.

Workshops, hands-on

• Operational power curves, worked through together, with a shared Python notebook to take home
• Performance degradation, with a shared Python notebook to take home

Where it fits

• The Power Curve Working Group advanced power curve and modelling work for the industry.
• The Wind Resource Assessment Group is a reference community for resource assessment, now meeting within the WindEurope Technology Workshop.
• O2O Wind is an owner-to-owner network sharing operations and maintenance know-how across large fleets worldwide.
• France Renouvelables represents renewable energy operators in France, with its own operations commission and the reach to speak to policymakers.
• The Wind Performance Forum focuses on operational performance from the operator's seat, peer to peer.

Between editions

To continue the exchange, a discussion platform was tried between editions, on Teams. Without someone actively running it, it doesn't take off. The forum works the same way: it stays a one-day, informal format, and it takes someone to keep organising it. The group also wrote its own charter in the meantime, which served as a basis for the ground rules, and WindEurope came on board as a partner.
